The SkyPark Infinity Pool at Marina Bay Sands (MBS) is one of the world’s most iconic swimming pools. Elevated 200 metres above ground, the 150-metre long pool straddles the three towers of the MBS hotel, and offers unhindered views of the Singapore urban skyline.
One of the main challenges in the construction of the MBS SkyPark Infinity Pool was the need to manage its structural integrity. As the area in Marina Bay is predominantly composed of marine clay, it is expected that significant building movements would occur due to gravitational pull and wind loads.
To mitigate these concerns, the pool was constructed entirely out of stainless steel for maximum durability and flexibility. In spite of the engineering magnitude, the SkyPark Infinity Pool was completed in a mere span of 7 months, which is a testament to the efficiency of pre-fabricated stainless steel construction.
